East Columbia

The East Columbia area  was settled in 1846 by John Switzler who provided cattle for Fort Vancouver, his cow pastures are in the current location of the Columbia Edgewater golf course that opened in 1925Mr. Switzler also ran the neighborhood  post office and Portland -Vancouver ferry before the construction of the Interstate Bridge. 1908 the Portland Yacht Club was founded in this neighborhood and in 1999 the Columbia Children’s Arboretum was founded.

This neighborhood is a mix used space, with residential, commercial properties and small farms and natural areas.
