Looking down the Broadway Bridge and you will find the quaint neighborhood of Eliot.  This neighborhood was the heart of the former City of Albina that became annexed into the City of Portland on July 6, 1891. Rich in history and culture this area was first settled by local Indian tribes, then pioneers via the Barlow trail in which many streets in the Eliot neighborhood are named after. The first housing developments started in 1880’s due to improved transportation to this area, including the opening of the original Morrison Bridge, a wood truss swing bridge in 1887. Due to the City of Albina history of residential and industry in this area, the community has a unique feel with original homes, old commercial structure revamped as new boutiques, restaurants, businesses or condo.

This neighborhood also features Eliot is a charming neighborhood that you will find primarily foursquare, craftsman, gingerbread victorians with a population of condominiums and lofts.  If you are in the medical field this is a great location due to the proximity to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, which has been in this neighborhood since 1915.
